Unshared sources
In February 2024 Opinum stopped supporting source sharing between multiple accounts with version 6.0. This historical feature introduced a great deal of complexity into databases, and causes undesirable side effects.
Data concerned
We're talking here about external data sources provided by Opinum (e.g. weather data). Historically, these sources were shared between several accounts, and as soon as a user modified a source or a variable, it modified this source and this variable on all accounts.
Unsharing sources procedure
On February 8, 2024 we created new sources and variables on each account that had these shared sources available.
We have automatically replaced historical sources and variables in calculated variables, dashboards and reports.
Calculated variables are managed on Opinum master account, and shared as raw data on ather accounts.
Historical sources and variables have been removed.
The variables from shared sources were not visible in the usage page. Since the sources have been separated, there are 2 possible scenarios:
- Customer sources that were shared between 2 accounts have been unshared and duplicated on each accounts and their variables are now taken into account in the usage page. Customers have been warned individually.
- The data set sources shared by Opinum have also been unshared, but for the time being they are identified as "non-billable" and are not taken into account in the Usage page. They may be in the futur.
New Shared Data behavior
From now on, the sources receive the data first on an Opinum master account, then the data is sent every 15 minutes to each variable on each account.
